Below are some tools that some of our technicians occasionally use in the field when working on machines. These are all programs developed by reputable developers and we recommend for you to use to help keep your computer clean of viruses, malware as well as other tools to help maintain your Windows based computer.

|Avast Antivirus||Avast Free Antivirus offers an antivirus and anti-malware protection, along with features you’re most likely to need, but would rather not think about – like one-click system checks, and unwanted toolbar removal. The free home network scanner now detects 12 more types of router vulnerabilities, and a new password manager feature means your antivirus can now save, and encrypt, all your passwords.|
|ADW Cleaner||AdwCleaner frees your computer of unwanted programs and malware, including adware, toolbars, and more. Regardless of how these programs ended up on your computer, this app can remove them quickly and smoothly.|
|CCleaner||CCleaner is a freeware system optimization, privacy and cleaning tool. It removes unused files from your system allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. Additionally it contains a fully featured registry cleaner.|
|ComboFix||Combofix is a powerful anti-malware and anti-spyware program that can eliminate the type of combination programs that other apps often miss. It runs with no frills but produces impressive results, although it may be hard to use if you don’t have a good amount of technical knowledge.|
|Defraggler||Piriform’s Defraggler defragments hard drives or individual folders and files and monitors the health and performance of your disc drives and SSDs. Compact and fully portable, Defraggler has an interactive drive map with legend, supports NTFS and FAT32 file systems, includes full and quick defrag options, and integrates with Windows Explorer. Recent updates include Quick Optimize for SSD, the ability to view other disc data during operations, and improved detection of files lacking extensions.|
|File Hippo||Scan and check the versions of the installed software in your computer.|
|HiJack This||HijackThis lists the contents of key areas of the Registry and hard drive–areas that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers. The program is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs and URLs, only the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.|
|Hitman Pro||HitmanPro finds and removes malware, adware, bots, and other threats that even the best antivirus suite can oftentimes miss. It’s designed to run alongside your antivirus suite, firewall, and other security tools.|
|MalwareBytes||Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a substantial update to the famed malware-killing machine; the latest version integrates rootkit detection directly into the software and sports a more streamlined interface.|
|Norton Removal Tool||Removes Norton Antivirus products|
|OpenOffice||If you’re looking for Microsoft-caliber applications for free, OpenOffice has alternatives to Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and more. OpenOffice has come a long way after racing to improve its compatibility with Microsoft Office.|
|Revo Uninstaller Pro||Revo Uninstaller adds some serious power to uninstalling programs, but not a lot of speed. It certainly runs circles around the default option in Windows. However, it’s not the most convenient way to kick programs off of your hard drive. It tucks many of the best features behind a paywall, too.|
